1 lb beef, 95% lean
1½ tsp kosher salt
½ cup onions, diced
½ cup celery, diced
½ cup carrots, diced
28 oz crushed tomatoes, no salt added, 1 can
5 cups inexperienced cabbage, shredded
4 cups beef stock, canned
2 leaves bay leaf


  1. Sauté the meat and salt, cooking except browned, breaking the meat up into diminutive peices as it cooks, 3 to 4 min.
  2. When browned, add the onion, celery and carrots and saute 4 to 5 minutes.
  3. Add the tomatoes, cabbage, beef stock and bay leaves.
  4. Prepare dinner covered low 40 minutes.
